A DAD who looks after his mentally ill son has had to sell his home to pay back the £20,900 in carer's allowance he wrongly received. This is despite the fact that the cost to the taxpayer of these overpayments is only around £110. It was revealed last month that almost 70,000 people have been overpaid carer's allowance by up to £50,000 following "systemic failures or gross incompetence". Ministers are now desperately trying to claw back these payments and those who can't face a £5,000 fine or prosecution. George Leyland, 59, from Lancashire is one such person who has been hit by this crackdown. According to the BBC, he has been forced by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to sell his home to repay overpaid carer's allowance plus fines. THE O2 network has reportedly gone down across the UK this morning. Furious customers took to social media to flag problems with 4G and data services. It appears that the network issues appeared about 5.30am. Customers across Manchester, London and Southampton have all reported outages. The network confirmed they were investigating. A statement posted on the company's website read: "Our technical teams are investigating reports of issues when using data. Voice calls are working OK. O2 customers around the UK have experienced issues with the network this morning"Our technical teams are investigating. We apologise for any inconvenience." One frustrated customer wrote: "My data is not working neither are my calls. Not connecting and earlier I had no signal at all for about 45 minutes." Another added: "Oh great, O2 data network down".
