Haven to reopen parks from April 12 following lockdown announcement
HAVEN has announced that they will be opening from April 12, following the government lockdown announcment. Boris Johnson confirmed in the Monday announcement that self-catered UK holidays could restart from April 12. While this is only for one household - going up to two households on May 17 - it is great new for families wanting to get a holiday booked . Haven said in a statement: "Following the Government announcement earlier this week with regards to the roadmap out of lockdown measures, we can confirm that our parks will remain closed in England until Monday 12 April. "We are however, delighted that the roadmap has considered self-contained accommodation to reopen at Stage two and we look forward to welcoming many families to enjoy a coastal break that we pride ourselves on from the 12 April across our parks in England." ‘Bubbly’ drama student, 17, found hanged hours after telling friends she had been raped
A DRAMA student was found hanged after revealing she had been raped at a party just hours earlier, an inquest heard. Megan Younger-Watson, 17, who was described by her family as “beautiful, polite and funny” was allegedly sexually assaulted after drinking in a pub. Suffolk Coroner’s Court in Ipswich heard how she was “distraught” when she told friends of the attack as they walked home from the party in a flat. She was found dead the next morning in her room at her supported housing accommodation hostel Christchurch House, Ipswich, Suffolk. Detective Inspector Daniel Connick of Suffolk Police said the alleged rape had been investigated and a male suspect was identified after Megan’s death. He was never brought to court after the CPS decided against bringing charges, the hearing was told. UK Covid death toll rises by 442 as daily figure drops by half in two weeks
The UK's coronavirus death toll has risen to 121,305 after a further 442 more fatalities were confirmed. This afternoon the Department of Health also said a further 9,938 people had tested positive for Covid in 24 hours. Covid-19 deaths are finally moving downward after topping 1,000 a day 23 times in January and February - but experts warn easing lockdown too fast could lead to another surge. A week ago 738 coronavirus deaths were announced, while a fortnight ago the figure was 1,001. One month ago, on January 24, 610 deaths were confirmed. In the past seven days there have been 2,815 coronavirus deaths, a 31 per cent fall compared to the week before. Children’s ‘squishies’ toys popular in the UK BANNED in Denmark over fears they contains hazardous chemicals
POPULAR children's toys called "squishies" have been banned in Denmark after tests found they contained harmful chemicals. If children inhale these hazardous substances it could cause them breathing problems, and in the long-term can cause fertility and liver damage. The chemical substances also act as cancer causing carcinogens and can irritate your eyes. The foam toys are similar to stress balls and are mostly imported from Japan. A number of different Japanese brands make the toys which tend to be shaped like food or animals. Now, Danish authorities have banned the sale of squishies over fears they could be harmful to children. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency tested 12 products and found that all of them could cause dangerous long and short-term health effects. While the report doesn't name any specific chemicals, it warns that children who sleep with the toys next to them or have several in their bedroom are most at risk.
