It is a wonderful thing to have and there can’t be too many businesses that can say that. "It's lovely to have this shared history." Meet the 100-year-old who LOVES Harley-Davidson motorbikes
This Newcastle great-grandmother was given a special surprise for her 100th birthday when three Harley-Davidson motorbikes were brought to her party. Margaret Borrowdale and her husband Bill used to cycle around the North East on a tandem bike, but when they welcomed their daughter they decided to swap their wheels for a Harley-Davidson. The couple added a side car so they could take their daughter, June Hetherington, on their adventures around the country. To mark Margaret's 100th birthday, three Harley-Davidson motorbikes from the Gateshead dealership were brought to West Farm Care Home in Longbenton for her to enjoy. Margaret, who was born in Ouseburn, said: "We used to go all over the country on the bike. "We used to camp and it was Harley-Davidson with a side car. "It was an ex-army Harley-Davidson and there were four friends. "We were away every weekend or went every Sunday going to different places - Scotland, Cornwall, it was great." Secret Service buys Harley Davidson motorcycles despite Trump feud
Rick Barrett Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 1:57 PM EDT Sep 14, 2018 President Donald Trump may be calling for Americans to boycott Harley-Davidson Inc., but U.S. Secret Service agents who protect him will continue to ride Harley's motorcycles. The website is a place where federal agencies publish solicitations and requests for proposals from government contractors and private businesses. In its pitch for buying a Harley-Davidson, rather than another brand of motorcycle, the Secret Service said it already had mechanics familiar with Harley, spare parts and sidecars that fit the bikes. “Any other motorcycles would require additional training of staff,” the agency said. Trump’s feud with Harley-Davidson was triggered this summer when the company announced it was moving production of motorcycles … [Read more...] about Secret Service buys Harley Davidson motorcycles despite Trump feud

Picture: AFP MATTHEW LEVATICH: I don't want anyone to think that we're running away from our core customer, and the strength that the company has today. This needs to be thought of all of that plus more. So we're going to be doubling down on existing products. We're going to invest in an all new middleweight platform, which is a modular chassis and a very-- core-- engine technology-- to go in three dramatically different spaces. Adventure touring, custom and street fighter. And do that with multiple models, all this coming within the next two or three years. And then E.V. is that additional component, which really allows us to reach out and inspire a whole generation of people that aren't even yet thinking about freedom on two wheels. MORGAN BRENNAN: And what you say here is, "Comprehensive cost reduction and reallocation of previously planned investment and resources." So how does that look? Especially because when I hear something like cost reduction I can't help but think … [Read more...] about CNBC Transcript: Harley-Davidson CEO Matthew Levatich Speaks with CNBC’s Morgan Brennan in Interview Airing Today
