Staff shortages due to timetable changes have been blamed for train cancellations, with passengers warned more could follow.Transport for Wales (TfW) is increasing journeys by 40% on Sundays from this weekend leading to fewer staff on Saturday.This led to 12 train services being cancelled before 13:00 GMT and delays.TfW apologised and thanked workers who had given up rest days or volunteered to work overtime.Earlier TfW's website showed there were delays to services between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury, from Cardiff to Shrewsbury and Swansea and Chester to Holyhead, among others. Protests against Google’s ‘dystopian’ CENSORED search engine for China to take place across the globe today calling on the firm to cancel its controversial plan
Amnesty International are holding protests across the globe today calling for an end to Googles plan of censoring their search engine in China. Demonstrations will take place outside Googles HQ's in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia,Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, The Netherlands and Spain. It was revealed that Google secretly built the censored search engine, code-named Dragonfly, to blacklist certain words such as 'human rights' and 'student protest'. Amnesty have launched a petition to stop works on the 'dystopian' platform which are said to launch in China between January and April 2019. The human rights group say that the move would 'set a dangerous precedent for tech companies enabling rights abuses by governments.' Artificial Intelligence (AI) software that forms an opinion of people by the way they speak - in much the same way people do - is being developed by a UK finance firm. The language and vocabulary used by customers who ring in seeking help with their mortgage or savings accounts will be used to create a profile. The system, which is being backed by the Nationwide Building Society, will then tailor a computer generated conversation with the customer defined by their ‘voice personality’. Walmart sells British arm to rival, sparking competition concerns
US retail giant Walmart on Monday agreed to sell its British unit, Asda, to local rival Sainsbury's in a 7.3 billion GBP (€8.3 billion $10.1 billion) deal. The cash and stock deal combines the No. 2 and No. 3 supermarket chains in Britain, to create the country's largest group by market share, overtaking long-standing leader Tesco. Victoria Bowen was over the moon when she fell pregnant with her first child. But while she was carrying her first child, Victoria began to eat for two - and didn't stop after she gave birth. By the time she'd had her second baby, the mum-of-two was dangerously overweight and too afraid to get on the scales.
