SOME might say he’s a jewel in his own right but musical legend Jools Holland is all set to sparkle on Teesside once again. The national treasure and former Squeeze pianist will return to Middlesbrough Town Hall with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra next May. The show will come after Jools plays a stint at the legendary Blue Note Café in New York as well as a short and intimate European club tour and forms part of the entertainer’s UK spring/summer tour. On the bill for the May 18 Boro show will be Squeeze drummer Gilson Lavis and guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall as well as a still to be announced special guest. Middlesbrough Town Hall will also see the likes of Later… with Jools Holland star Hailey Tuck perform at Middlesbrough’s Jazz Weekender this coming weekend. NHS staff can now get free drinks at a Hull nightclub. ATIK in Hull’s Old Town want to celebrate the work done by the city’s NHS staff by offering them a free drink this weekend. All staff will have to do is show their payslip upon entry to the Dagger Lane club before 11pm. ATIK Hull posted on Facebook: “Had a tough week at work? Have a drink on us. “A special thank you this weekend for all of your efforts. Simply show your payslip upon entry for a free drink before 11pm and free entry before 11.30pm.” The promotion is valid until October 26, 2018. The X Factor Live Tour is returning for 2019 and it's coming to Cardiff. This year's contestants will head to the Motorpoint Arena on February 22. Since the tour began 14 years ago more than three million people have been entertained by the show's biggest contestants including One Direction, Olly Murs, James Arthur, Leona Lewis and Little Mix. The X Factor digital presenter, Becca Dudley, will be returning as host for the UK arena tour and will also interact with the audience throughout the night. At the end of each show, the crowd will become the judges and choose their winner. This year's tour lineup is yet be announced but it's expected to be revealed during the upcoming live shows by presenter Dermot O'Leary. The latest series returned on September 1 with judges Simon Cowell, Robbie Williams, Louis Tomlinson and Ayda Field. You were caught in the overspill from the Albert Hall which for three hours generated enough high-voltage emotion to power the whole city. Cantamus, Mansfield’s multi-award-winning girls’ choir was celebrating both the 50 golden years of its existence and the 500 golden voices which it has nurtured and brought to perfection. The celebration in every way lived up to the audience’s stratospheric expectations. As usual everything was sung by heart and in a wide diversity of languages. Under their Director Ann Irons, Cantamus opened the concert with Gounod’s intensely moving Sanctus whose soloist was star alumna Rebecca Von Lipinski.
