NEW railings have been erected at the entrance of Sion Mills Primary School all thanks to a successful safety campaign initiated by the departing P7 students. In a bid to solve their school’s parking debacle, the P7s hosted a hustings event back in April to lobby support from electoral candidates about the problem. Outlining the lack of safe parking or drop off/pick up areas outside the school gates as the main issue, the improvements suggested by the students received unanimous support from all candidates. Advertisement It was as a result of this innovative event that members of the student council and the Nature Ninja’s committee were then granted a meeting with the PSNI and Department for Infrastructure (DfI) Roads to discuss their ongoing plight further. Taking all the views expressed on board, the road service promised action and have already installed new safety railings to prevent cars parking at the school gates. Although DfI Roads were not able to commit to … [Read more...] about New safety railings installed at Sion Mills school

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been labelled a 'disgrace' after he revealed that Gareth Bale was closing in on an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu. The 30-year-old Wales international, regularly linked with a return to the Premier League to join Manchester United, was absent for the International Champions Cup clash with Bayern Munich. Zidane revealed after the match that Bale's absence was not due to injury or tactical reasons, as he confirmed that the former Tottenham Hotspur star is in negotiations regarding an exit from the Spanish capital. “We hope he leaves soon. It would be best for everyone. We are working on his transfer to a new team," he said after the 3-1 defeat. “I have nothing personal against him, but there comes a time where things are done because they must be done. I have to make decisions. We have to change.” Those comments did not sit well with Bale 's agent Jonathan Barnett, who dubbed the Frenchman a 'disgrace' while confirming … [Read more...] about Gareth Bale’s agent slams Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane
Three years ago today Everton appointed the first director of football in the club's history but are the Blues now learning from their teething problems with the position and was Steve Walsh unfairly blamed for the fall-out from a record-breaking spending spree that followed? Although thwarted in their attempts to land Sevilla's long-serving sporting director Monchi, when Farhad Moshiri did manage to prise Walsh away from the newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City at the second time of asking, it was seen as being a major coup. Not only had the Foxes stunned the football world with arguably the biggest upset in English top flight history – their pre-season odds to land the title had been 5,000/1 – but Walsh was regarded as being the talent-spotter responsible for unearthing the likes of Riyad Mahrez, N’Golo Kanté and Jamie Vardy, three of the kingpins in the unexpected triumph at the King Power Stadium who had been all picked up for relatively … [Read more...] about Have Everton now grasped recruitment role?
