A circuit break lockdown has come into force on the Isle of Man following a rise in coronavirus cases after a ferry crew member tested positive. The island, which came out of lockdown on February 1, with schools and businesses reopening fully after no reports of unexplained community cases of coronavirus for 17 consecutive days. As a result, people were pictured flooding to pubs for their first pints in nearly a month , with social distancing and face masks axed. At one minute past midnight on February 1, the island’s Seven Kingdoms in Douglas opened to a flurry of customers. Huge crowds were also pictured gathering for a Christmas lights switch in the capital town on at the end of last year, with no social distancing. But, on Tuesday, Chief Minister Howard Quayle announced a new lockdown of 21 days as a result of “transmission in our community that we cannot see and that we do not understand”.
