Brits holiday hope as post-lockdown bonanza sees bookings soar by 600 percent

Families flocked to book summer holidays after Boris Johnson's announced easing of Covid curbs. Travel firms today reported a surge in demand for getaways, both here and abroad. One camping website was taking a booking every seven seconds. Holiday firm Jet2 said the impact had been "dramatic", with a 600% leap in bookings after the Prime Minister roadmap statement. And the Caravan and Motorhome Club predicted the easing of restrictions would be "like a cork popping from a bottle". On the same date a taskforce will say if people in England can holiday abroad, although the curbs will remain until at least May 17.
