First-time buyer, 25, transforms kitchen for £1,500 and it’s completely unrecognisable

A first-time buyer who transformed her rundown kitchen for a fraction of the advertised price has explained the secrets that could help others renovate their homes for less. Sarah Macklin, 25, saved over £3,500 on her kitchen renovation, even revealing before and after pictures of the neglected room which was “falling apart” which she first got the keys to the property. The Cheshire-based homeowner transformed the dated room she inherited from her previous tenants into a spacious, modern kitchen last year. Sarah, 25, and her husband Jay, 26, who created their home renovation blog ‘Dream Of Home’, shared how her family was able to cut 28% off the typical price using hacks such as eBay. That’s based on a report by comparison website Confused.com which estimates the average DIY kitchen project to cost £5,219. “I would absolutely recommend looking at second-hand kitchens if you have a budget you wish to stick to.
