Mumbai reports 798 new cases
Mumbai city reported 798 fresh cases, due to which its overall case count went up to 2,88,696. Its death toll climbed to 10,942, of which 13 were reported on Thursday.
Dharavi continues to be in the single-digit range after reporting only five new cases today. The locality’s cumulative tally stands at 3,741. While the region is a host to 15 active cases, it has recorded 3,415 discharges to date. Meanwhile, both Dadar and Mahim reported seven fresh cases each. While Dadar’s total tally surged to 4,672, Mahim’s currently stands at 4,455. With this, Dadar is now a host to 142 active cases and has recorded 4,358 discharges so far.

Bombay HC to have combination of virtual, physical hearings
The Bombay High Court on Thursday announced that it will again start hearing cases through virtual mode from December 14, in addition to the physical hearings that began earlier this month. The announcement comes 10 days after most courts at the principal bench of the high court in the city stopped virtual hearings and announced the resumption of physical hearings on an experimental basis amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Neetu Kapoor confirms testing positive for coronavirus
Actor Neetu Kapoor confirmed on social media that she has contracted the coronavirus. Taking to Instagram, she said that she tested positive earlier this week and is currently in self-quarantine. She also assured her fans and well-wishers that she is feeling better now. Neetu Kapoor was in Chandigarh, shooting for her upcoming film Jug Jugg Jeeyo, when she was diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Gujarat reports 1,270 new cases
With the addition of 1,270 coronavirus positive cases in Gujarat on Thursday, its infection tally reached 2,24,081, the state health department said. The virus claimed the lives of 12 patients in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 4,135, it said in a statement. A total of 1,465 patients recovered from the infection and were discharged from hospitals.
India records 31,521 new coronavirus cases
India recorded 31,521 new coronavirus cases, data from the health ministry showed on Thursday. The country has a total of 9.77 million infections, the second-highest in the world after the United States, but the daily tally has been slowly dropping since hitting a peak in September. Deaths rose by 412, with the total now 141,772.
