AN NHS worker was stabbed inside a hospital today sparking a lockdown as armed cops searched for the attacker. A 30-year-old man was arrested after a male staff member in his 50s at Royal Sussex County Hospital was attacked at 8.42am, leaving him seriously injured. The hospital, in Brighton, was placed on lockdown, with social media reports also suggesting police helicopters were in attendance. Cops confirmed the victim’s injuries aren’t life-threatening. Unconfirmed social media reports suggest the victim could be a cleaner. Dan Dawson, who reported the attack on Twitter, wrote: “Disgusting to think they’ve been working so hard fighting the virus only to be attacked. Thoughts with [them] and their family.”Lewes District Lib Dem Councillor, Sean Maclead tweeted: “My wife works at the Sussex County hospital, they have been absolute hero’s all the staff through this crisis, for someone to go into the hospital and stab a member of staff is frightening. Thoughts and Prayers are with the victim.” In a statement Sussex Police confirmed the hospital was “secured”, with staff and civilians unable to leave as armed officers searched for the attacker.
