A science author has claimed a supermassive black hole could eventually become so large that it would absorb stars and even entire galaxies.
Astronomers in South America found the new black hole that science author and astronomer Dr David Whitehouse claims will show experts “a different view on how the universe works”.
He told the Daily Express : “We’re beginning to realise that we had thought that there was a limit to the size of black holes in the centre of a galaxy because they can only swallow so many stars.
“Black holes grow by swallowing matter and gas and stars and dust. This one is enormous, so perhaps there are even bigger black holes out there.”
The phenomena are so dense they create a gravitational pull that can even pull in light.

But, it can also warp space and time, creating a force so strong that it can drag in stars much larger than our Sun, the Daily Star reports.
Dr Whitehouse continued: “And there are some theories which suggest that eventually, in the vast length of time, more time in future than we can imagine, everything will end up in a black hole. The whole universe.
“Black holes come in all sorts of size. There are black holes the size of atoms and there are black holes a billion times the size of the Sun at the centre of very large galaxies.
“And they’re fascinating and revealing objects.”
The expert’s comments were made after researchers discovered 39 ancient galaxies earlier this month.
A team said the “treasure trove” of previously-unknown galaxies were formed about 12 billion years ago.
Researcher Tao Wang, from the University of Tokyo, said that they were previously invisible to the naked eye.
