A woman in her 20s has been further arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a flat fire left a four-year-old boy with “life-threatening” injuries. The boy was has been in hospital for nearly two months following the fire in Clayton Road, Farnborough, in the early hours of May 17. The woman was originally arrested on suspicion of neglect and released under investigation by Hampshire Constabulary a week after the incident, but she has now been re-arrested and released on conditional bail. Fire crews from Rushmoor, Yateley and Camberley attended the incident and tackled the blaze for more than an hour before a stop message was issued. Four people were treated at the scene by paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service, but the boy had to be taken to hospital for further treatment in intensive care. A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “I can confirm that the woman in her 20s has been further arrested by officers from Hampshire Constabulary on suspicion of attempted murder. She has been released on conditional bail.” They added that the boy, as of Friday (July 12), remains in hospital following the fire. Pictures taken later in the day of the fire showed extensive damage to the property, with windows shattered and black marks on the exterior walls.
