A parcel delivery employee who stole Apple Macbook Pros from a Billingham depot will have to pay almost £4,000 in compensation. David Quinn was also given a suspended prison sentence after admitting the theft and also attempting to take electrical equipment. The offences took place at the DPD site on Macklin Avenue, Billingham on January 26, and February 3, this year. The 45-year-old appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to be sentenced for theft by an employee and attempted theft by an employee. He pleaded guilty to the charges. At a previous hearing, the court heard the items were worth “quite a large value”. Quinn, of Chestnut Avenue, Spennymoor, County Durham, was handed a 13 week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He must also carry out 80 hours unpaid work and 15 rehabilitation activity days, and was ordered to pay £3,854 compensation.
