Leicester City’s reported interest in Daniel Sturridge has divided the club’s fans.
Many City fans point to his excellent goal record and the fact that he’s available on a free transfer, but there are concerns over his injury record.
Here is how City supporters reacted to the story.
Emma Chetwynd: “As a free worth a chance, hopefully our physios would be better at keeping him free of injury.”
Mauno Ehtoollinen: “NO NO NO! He’ll need £200k per week and lays in a hospital the whole season.”
Matt Toon: “I think as a free if we get him playing well, his pace with Vardy would pull defences all over the place. But teams would just sit deep like Friday night.”
Amanda Martin: “Great idea. Andy Carroll as back-up? Would keep the physios and doctors busy!”
Oliver Pennington: “No, no and no. Although they do need another option up front to Vardy.”
Kyle: “Scores goals but is made of string and you get about seven games a season out of him.”
Tom: “Anyone saying no is lying to themselves. Proven Premier League and international. Injury prone sure but on a free when he’s better than our current options, you don’t turn it down.”
Andy: “My first thought was no way, sick note, etc., but then again it would have been great to have him come on for the last 10 mins on Friday.”
Should Leicester City offer a contract to Daniel Sturridge?
0+ VOTES SO FAR
Pete: “No, no, no. £120k per week for an injury-prone benchwarmer.”
Louie Maisey: “Pedigree/ability/goal-scoring record: very good. Fitness levels: abysmal. If we got him we’d also need a back up to the back up! Does he play through the pain barrier for the good of his club?! History shows he doesn’t yet he would command a big wage. Pay as you play? Doubt he would.”
Shane Bailey: “Would rather have him than Okazaki. At least when fit he knows where the goal is.”
Andrew Willett: “What we need is a young lad ready for the next step. Adams from Birmingham City would be ideal. And of course he’s a Leicester lad. Fits the bill perfectly.”
Stu: “If Rodgers can get him to replicate the form he showed during his tenure at Liverpool then yes. It’d have to be an incentive-based deal though with his injury record. He’s too big a talent for us to turn our noses up at.”
Ash: “Definitely, stayed fit this season, had his best season under Rodgers, proven goalscorer. And for a free transfer? Yes.”
Jack Johnson: “Why would you say no? We clearly lack another quality striker and he would be what we need. Free transfer and I’m sure he wouldn’t be too unhappy on the bench.”
