A ‘sea monster’ made from plastic is touring the coastline of Wales to raise awareness of the damage that plastics have on our beaches. The Cragen Sea Monster is a giant puppet created by Cardigan’s Small World Theatre. It will appear in Porthcawl on Tuesday afternoon at a special event celebrating the Clean Seas Wales campaign to turn the tide on single use plastic. Cragen shot to stardom last year during Visit Wales’ Year of the Sea. The giant puppet toured Wales visiting beaches and coastal settings including festivals and events. Lord Elis-Thomas, the Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism said the Welsh Government is committed to reducing the use of single use plastics. The Welsh Government is already working to reduce single use plastics near beaches by offering free drinking water refill stations along the Wales Coastal Path as part of its Refill Nation scheme.
