BY GORETHY KENNETH Attorney General and Justice Minister Davis Stevens has resigned as the country’s legal advisor. In a press conference just now, Minister Stevens said he wanted to concentrate in his electorate because for too long he has neglected his people. He said he is still a member of the ruling People’s National Congress Party (PNC) and has spoken to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill about his resignation. The attorney general said it had nothing to do with in differences. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill when contacted said he was aware of his resignation and they have met to discuss a lot of issues, one of which was his resignation to concentrate on his electorate. There has been ongoing discussions for him to take over from John Luke Crittin as Governor of Milne Bay. A week ago, then Finance Minister James Marape shocked Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his cabinet when he announced his resignation citing in differences in opinions with the Prime Minister. Peter O’Neill yesterday at government house following the installation of Markham MP Koni Iguan as Communications Minister and announcing Bulolo MP Sam Basil to be Finance Minister affirmed to the media that the coalition government was as strong as ever.
