A woman in her early 20s has died after a hit-and-run crash in south London. Police were called to the junction of Brixton Hill and Dumbarton Road, in Lambeth, following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian. Officers attended with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance. Despite their best efforts the young woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said. The driver of the vehicle, which was travelling at speed, did not stop at the scene, police said. An investigation is now underway to trace the vehicle, believed to be a dark coloured VW, possibly a Golf, which may have sustained damage to the bonnet.
