I’ve been having some fun with Stoke fans with this week, praising their managerial appointment but having a few digs at them all the same. It’s just a bit of Micky-taking and hopefully will be taken in the right spirit. Stoke fans who have followed me for a while on Twitter will know what I’m doing, although some go all sensitive. I am actually glad they have gone for Nathan Jones from Luton rather than a Sam Allardyce or Alan Pardew, one of the old guard who keep getting jobs. You would expect me to mention of course that we beat his Luton side 4-0 at our place last season, but to be fair I think they made one or two changes. It was over the busy Christmas schedule and, looking at where we were in the table, maybe they thought that was the easier game. Anyway, regardless of our result against them, he had a great record last season and has done the same again this year. Luton have some quality players there so it will be interesting to see whether he takes one or two with him. His style of play is refreshing….for Stoke. Certainly when his Luton side played us they didn’t try to sit in and defend, they went for the throat. So, it seems a good appointment but I’m going to leave it there. The last thing I want to do in my column is be encouraging Stoke fans!
