A person has died after being hit by a train at Farnworth station. Emergency services were scrambled to the Bolton station at around 1.30pm on Monday. British Transport Police (BTP) has now confirmed that the person has sadly died. They have yet to be identified. In a statement, police said: “Shortly before 1.30pm today, officers from British Transport Police were called to the line close to Farnworth station near Bolton, after reports of a person being struck by a train. “Paramedics also attended however a person has sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. “Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family. Their death is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.” Read more of today’s top stories here A number of train services between Bolton and Salford Crescent have been cancelled as the emergency services carry out their work. Northern said delays are expected until at least 4pm. Passengers are being advised to check before they travel.
