People went into meltdown as one of the UK’s biggest network’s O2 went down today. Customers of the mobile giant started reporting problems accessing data at 5:30am on Thursday, with O2 confirming the network was down. The company have been working to rectify the problem all day, which is believed to have been caused by a software glitch in equipment supplied by Swedish company Ericsson. Following the news customers have been flooding social media with memes and other hilarious responses. On the ECHO Facebook page people were quick to have their say. One said: “No more Facebook Christmas tree pictures.” Another said: “Girls fuming cos they haven’t posted a selfie in over an hour.” While a third said: “go and knock for your mate see if they are playing out or use your landlines like old times.” Customers using Sky, Tesco Mobile, GiffGaff and Lycamobile, which share O2’s network, have also been hit by the outage. CEO of O2, Mark Evans, tweeted this afternoon to say: “I want to reassure our customers that we are doing everything we can to fix the issue with our network and say how sorry I am to everyone affected. “My teams are working really hard with Ericsson to find a swift resolution.” And here are some of the best tweets we found.
