A strong earthquake has struck South Pacific islands, just days after a huge 7.6 tremor sparked tsunami warnings. Loyalty Islands near New Caledonia was hit with the 6.2 tremor on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It struck at a depth of 16 miles (26 km) and about 117 miles (189 km) southeast of Tadine. There were no immediate warnings from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. It follows a powerful 7.6 quake that hit near New Caledonia on Wednesday.
