A man has died after an early morning accident on the M4. A blue Vauxhall Vectra was the only car involved in the crash near the Pont Abraham roundabout in Carmarthenshire. Fire crews said the car had hit a motorway sign in the area. The motorway was closed – you can follow live traffic updates from the area here. The alarm was raised shortly before 4am and emergency services were sent to the scene. Dyfed Powys Police said: “Sadly the driver died. His next of kin has been informed.” The eastbound carriageway was closed for several hours to allow for investigation work but re-opened around 9am. Police are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch by calling 101 and quoting reference DP-20181207-023 . It was one of a series of crashes on the roads in south Wales on Friday morning as the region was battered by heavy rain and high winds.
