GOVERNMENT House has announced the passing of Lady Hannah Dadae, wife of Governor-General Sir Bob Dadae. Acting Official Secretary Mr Bill Toraso confirmed that Lady Dadae, 53, died after a short illness in Brisbane, Australia, about 2pm on Tuesday. Lady Dadae had been receiving medical treatment for the past three months when she succumbed to her illness. She was a teacher by profession and had taught in schools throughout Morobe Province for 29 years before retiring a few years ago. After retirement, Lady Dadae became involved in charitable and Christian ministry which she had continued to pursue when Sir Bob became the Governor-General. Lady Dadae was passionate about issues affecting women and children which she advocated and spoke passionately about throughout her travels with Sir Bob. Lady Dadae had been hosting Christian fellowship with women prisoners at Bomana jail and had announced her intention to extend fellowship to female prisons throughout the country. She comes from Garaina in Morobe Province. Lady Dadae is survived by Sir Bob and their five children. Lady Dadae’s body will be brought back to Port Moresby tomorrow, December 7, accompanied by Sir Bob. Funeral arrangements will be announced soon after.
