THIS year’s X Factor is already promising to be a close competition – and Anthony Russel is proving to be a real fan favourite. Here’s everything you need to know about the contestant who made it all the way to the live shows after trying to get on the show multiple times. Who is Anthony Russel? Anthony Russel is a 28-year-old singer from Liverpool. He originally auditioned for X Factor a decade ago, at the tender age of 17, in front of Simon Cowell, Sharon Osborne, Louis Walsh and Danii Minogue. After not getting on the show that year, Anthony reauditioned in 2017 which won him three yeses from the judges. Sadly, the singer has to quit the show due to “personal reasons”. For the past 12 months, he has been mentored by new judge Louis Tomlinson. Simon commented on this saying: “I knew that Louis had reached out to help him with his demons a long time ago. “I think it says a lot about the kind of person Louis is; he doesn’t brag about it, he doesn’t talk about it, it’s a very personal thing for him.” This year he finally made it all the way to the finals after making it through the Six Chairs Challenge and singing Scars by James Bay at the Judges’ Houses.
