Stephen O’Donnell is the latest addition to Alex McLeish’s long list of Scotland call-offs after withdrawing through injury. The Kilmarnock right-back, who started the last two Nations League clashes, will now miss crucial games against Israel and Albania. He was absent from Killie’s 1-0 win over Hearts after suffering a “severe hamstring injury” – reports the BBC. However, keeper jamie MacDonald will join up with the squad despite also missing the victory at Tynecastle. He had replaced the injured Jon McLaughlin earlier this week. McLeish is without first-choice strikers Leigh Griffiths and Steven Naismith while the likes of James McArthur, Matt Ritchie and Tom Cairney have all made themselves unavailable for the crucial double-header. Scotland trail Israel by three points in Group C heading into the final two fixtures. McLeish’s side will face Albania next Saturday before a Hampden showdown with Israel three days later.
