Police are investigating after a man was found with serious injuries at an empty retail park near the city centre. The victim was discovered collapsed at the dilapidated Central Retail Park in Ancoats. Detectives are trying to establish how he came by his injuries. Today part of the location was cordoned off by police. In a statement Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 10.25am on Saturday 10 November 2018, police were called to reports of concern for the welfare of a man at Central Retail Park on Great Ancoats Street in the city centre. The old shopping complex, which once housed Mothercare and Toys R Us stores is to be bought by the council for new homes as part of Manchester council’s £1bn housebuilding partnership with Manchester City’s Middle Eastern owners. The site, on a main route to the newly developed New Islington, has been in the town hall’s sights for years and all the units are now vacant.
