This is the sound of relief as Newcastle United clung on to a priceless victory over Bournemouth. Salomon Rondon’s first goals for the club were enough to secure a second successive Premier League win at St James’ Park. Despite losing last time out at home to Manchester United, Bournemouth arrived on Tyneside in the top six of the table. The Magpies dominated the first half and were good value for the lead handed to them by their on-loan striker. But the hosts were hit with a sucker punch just before the break as Jefferson Lerma pulled one back for the visitors just before the break. The second half was a more open and nervy affair with chances falling to both teams. But Rafa Benitez responded by substituting on defensive reinforcements, and his side held out to move up to 14th in the table. Watch the video above to see how the Toon Army greeted the referee’s whistle at the end of the match. Whistles can be heard as Newcastle United fans counted down the clock to claim all three points. Benitez’s side can now enjoy the international break before returning to action in front of the TV cameras at Burnley on November 26.
