A serious crash on a Derbyshire street left one person trapped inside their car. The accident happened at around 2.30pm in St Norbert Drive, Kirk Hallam, and is believed to have involved a black Passat Estate and a Silver Ford. Fire crews from Ilkeston and Stapleford were called out to the scene and had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to cut the roof from the Passat. At one point at least six firefighters were working on the vehicle and part of the road was cordoned off. The driver was released and taken to hospital. A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service could not confirm the extent of their injuries but did say that they needed further treatment in hospital. Derbyshire police were unavailable for comment. We’ve launched our very own app for Android and Apple devices which can be tailored to deliver the news and sport that you’re interested in.
