Ashley Williams says he’s enjoying football again after returning to regular action with Stoke City. The Wales centre-back had been aware that people were questioning his future after falling out of favour at Everton as he turned 34. But he has been emerging as a key figure in a major defensive turnaround on loan at Stoke, who have only conceded two goals in 670 minutes. “People say a lot of things!” he said. “As long as you’re enjoying it and you feel fit and strong and your performances are ok then you carry on. It’s a different kind of game when you get to my age; there are certain things you don’t do that you used to and vice versa. “I’m pleased with how it’s going. I’m pleased to get a run of games more than anything and to get a rhythm back. “I didn’t play a lot of football this year before coming here, with injury and suspensions and things. I’m glad it’s settled down for me and I want to stay in the team for a long period. I’m enjoying it and that’s the main thing for me at my age. “I’m enjoying going into work every day and I’m enjoying playing for Stoke.” Stoke have lost just one of their last eight games heading into the final international break of 2018 – but only turned three of those into wins.
