A Davis Cup without the stars The international break has been used as an opportunity for Gerard Pique to travel 9,818 km to Shanghai, to continue discussions surrounding the Davis Cup with players and leaders of the ATP. Pique intends to attend Saturday’s Masters 1,000 semifinals between Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev and Roger Federer’s against Borna Coric. It became known this week that Federer, Djokovic and Zverev plan to sit out the first edition of the Davis Cup, which is set to be held in November 2019. The competition will be presented on October 17 in Madrid with Pique, president of investment group Kosmos, present. There is hope that the tournament will be moved forward to September from the second edition onwards, making it more likely for the game’s top players to participate.
