A young boy was rushed to hospital this evening after being knocked down outside a circus. Emergency services were called to Kings Parade in New Brighton at around 6.45pm to reports that a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a car. An eight-year-old was injured when he was knocked down outside the circus that is currently in the area. He was taken to hospital for treatment where his condition is described as serious. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We attended a serious collision in New Brighton this evening (Tuesday 25 September 2018) involving a child pedestrian and car. “A report was received at 6.45pm that an eight-year-old boy had been in collision with a red Kia Picanto on Kings Parade. “The driver, a woman in her 50s, stopped at the scene and is assisting police with enquiries into the incident. “The boy was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.” Video footage of the scene shows an air ambulance landing on the grass nearby but it is believed the child was transported via road to hospital.
