United’s and City’s preparations for the new Premier League season concluded in rather different fashion on Sunday. Jose Mourinho’s men won just one of their five US tour fixtures in 90 minutes and rounded off a disappointing few weeks with a 1-0 defeat by Bayern Munich in Bavaria. City, on the other hand, got their hands on some silverware as Sergio Aguero’s brace sealed a 2-0 Wembley win over Chelsea in the Community Shield. The top flight gets back underway this weekend, with United taking on Leicester at Old Trafford on Friday and City going to Arsenal on Sunday. After three rounds of Premier League fixtures, the Champions League group phase draw will take place in Monaco on August 30.
