The Met Office’s 4th annual State of the UK Climate report, released today, confirms 2017 was the 5th warmest year in a record dating back to 1910. In fact the research shows a general warming trend for the UK that has seen average temperatures climb by nearly a degree over the 1961-1990 mean. Although we have had some very dry weather this year the trend is for heavier rain. 2008-2017 saw the UK have 8% more rain than over previous decades, In fact summers have been 20% wetter.
