A third boy has been arrested following a police chase through Wythenshawe. The blue Audi A4 was eventually stopped on Portway after officers used a stinger to pop its tyres. Two teenagers – aged 14 and 15 – were detained shortly afterwards. GMP have since confirmed a third boy, also 14, has also been arrested in connection with the incident on Tuesday morning. The spokesman said the boys had been travelling in the Audi – which is believed to have been involved in theft offences – when it was spotted by patrols on Simonsway just after 9am. They signalled to the driver to pull over, but the car drove off. Officers chased the vehicle and used a stinger to carry out a ‘tactical stop’ on Portway. One boy was arrested at the scene, and the other was picked up by officers near Hilary Road. Armed police were also drafted in, as well as the dog unit and police helicopter. The 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of the theft of, and from, motor vehicles, as well as possession of a firearm. The two 14-year-old’s were also arrested on suspicion of the theft of, and from, motor vehicles. They remain in police custody for questioning. Anyone with information is asked to contact GMP on 101 quoting log number 457 of July 17.
