From the catalogues like bricks to the teeny tiny pens – everything about Argos is just that little bit different to most shops.
It’s a British institution – and we love it.
We’ve got nine stores across the city and county to prove it!
But even if you’ve cracked the ordering, paying and queuing confusion there’s still a few tips and tricks to pick up.
So if you’re planning to do some shopping in Argos, you may be interested to hear this advice from the Cambridge News .
Fancy some money off?
Thankfully there are ways to save money using Argos’ plush promotional codes system.
You can get codes here to get discounts.
If you’ve already got codes, what you’ll need is to copy the code and enter it at the payment stage, click apply and then you’re sorted.
Where does Argos deliver to?
You don’t even need to go to Argos and collect to shop there.
They deliver across mainland UK and Northern Ireland. For smaller items Argos also delivers to the Scottish Islands, Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Man.
Buy something, but pay later
With an Argos Card, you can buy anything from Argos, start using it right away but pay them later.
It could be something to decorate your home, or pre-ordering the latest Playstation.
Argos has a monthly payment plan from three to 12 months, depending on how much you spend.
You could buy yourself some extra time to pay for those bigger purchases too.
It works like a standard credit card too, so for anything under £50, you’ll get until your next statement to pay.
Can I add something to an existing order?
Nope, you cannot unfortunately. If you’d like to buy new items you will need to place a new order.
What cards can I use to pay for my items?
Argos cards, Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Paypal, Love2shop and the Argos Business Card – both in-store and online.
When will my order be delivered?
There are many ways to to find out.
Check your receipt or confirmation email, head to your account and check your recent orders – you’ll be able to see any live updates on any progress here – and live chat.
Live chat is available every day from 7am until 9.45pm.
What counts as proof of purchase?
There might be a time when you’re unsatisfied with your order and want to return it.
You can use a till/kiosk receipt, confirmation email, e-receipt or your order number.
If you can’t find those, then you can use your card/bank statement, and the email address used to buy your item.
Can I use an Argos Gift Card or eGift Card online?
You can use any type of Argos Gift Card online, as well as in-store. So that includes eGift Cards or physical gift cards (the plastic or cardboard type).
You just need to make sure the card number starts with 10000 and you’ve got a four digit security PIN.
If your card doesn’t have a four digit PIN you can’t use it online, but you can still use it in-store.
Can I pay online using my Argos Business Account card?
Did you know that companies and traders can have Argos business accounts?
These provide benefits that include saving up to four per cent on your Argos business purchases and having up to 37 days to pay for everything you order.
And you can also pay online using one.
Find your order number
First things first, check your confirmation email for your order number (Argos would have texted this as well if they had your mobile number).
You’ll find your number printed on your receipt.
Or you can find your order number on your delivery note / on the address label.
Protect items once you buy them
Once you’ve got your new items from Argos, you can buy extra cover with Argos Product Care.
This includes breakdown cover, replacement care, and specialist cover.
Order with Fast Track
Don’t just walk into Argos, order off a screen and wait around for your product to be ready – make use of their Fast Track service, which allows customers to reserve thousands of products ready for pick up.
Simply look for items with the Fast Track badge, order for collection via the website or app, and Argos will hold your item for seven days.
Best of all, it’s completely free.
Items with a Fast Track badge can also be delivered to your address on the same day for £3.95, if you order before 6pm.
But get large items delivered
Some large items from Argos will have to be delivered to your home if they are too large to be picked up in store.
There are different levels of pricing depending on the item and how soon you want it delivered.
Delivery for furniture items that require more than one person to carry it (like a sofa) starts from £6.95 for standard, rising to £24.99 for next day delivery with your choice of delivery slot.
Large kitchen appliances benefit from free standard delivery, and prices start from £8.95 for next day delivery.
Argos will helpfully text you with a two hour delivery window the evening before your item is due to be delivered.
Their delivery drivers can even help get your item into the room of your choice, and can even take away and recycle your old appliance. Handy!
Shop at your local Sainsbury’s
Did you know that there are now a number of Argos kiosks in Sainsbury’s supermarkets?
That means you can now pick up your orders at the same time as your weekly shop, saving you an additional trip.
Shop the Simple Value range
For great prices on everyday items, make sure you check out the Argos Simple Value range.
It’s also a popular range for students going off to university, meaning that many of them will often turn up at their first flat with the same £5 kettle.
Look out for the red and white branding while you browse, or shop direct from the Simple Value page.
Browse the clearance section
Did you know that Argos has a clearance section?
Huge savings can be found across all departments including tech, homewares, toys and even jewellery.
Look out for the yellow Clearance button in the top right corner of the homepage, or click here to shop the department direct.
Aside from Argos sales and vouchers, there’s another way you could save with the retailer.
Online cashback site Quidco lists Argos as one of their partners, which means a handy bit of cash back in your pocket.
It’s free to join – just shop through the Quidco link, they’ll track your purchase and you’ll earn a cash reward.
The site is currently offering up to 6% cashback on Argos purchases, which could be something to keep in mind if you have a larger item to buy.
