An amber weather alert – meaning there’s a potential risk to life – remains in place for parts of Northern Ireland into 10am on Friday. A yellow warning is in place for the entire country until Saturday night. The Department for Infrastructure has advised that road conditions in the south east in particular are extremely difficult and unlikely to change significantly on Friday. Efforts will continue through the night to clear snow from the main roads with snow ploughing ongoing. The PSNI has asked motorists to slow down, use adequate lights, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front and be as careful as possible if driving in difficult conditions. They have also urged the public to check on their neighbours during this period.
