Two out of four lanes between junctions 22 and 23 clockwise are shut while fire officers tackle the blaze. It is not yet known when the lanes will be reopened.
ACCIDENTS closed lanes on two busy Dorset dual carriageways this morning. A total of six vehicles were involved in two accidents within half-an-hour of each other in poor weather conditions. Police were called to the Upton bypass in Poole, near to the Creekmoor roundabout, at 8.04am. There were no reports of any injuries and one lane has been closed while recovery for the vehicles is arranged. The vehicles involved are a blue Vauxhall Adam, a red Ford Transit panel van, a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a black Ford Mondeo. The M25 has been closed today (Monday) following a serious crash to enable the air ambulance to land. The crash happened at about 1:20pm and involved a lorry and a car. It happened between Junction 9 (Leatherhead) and Junction 10. Police have said they intend to get two lanes of the motorway re-opened as soon as possible. A huge overturned lorry which caught fire closed one of Britain's busiest motorways in both directions as firefighters tackled the roaring flames. Dramatic pictures from the scene showed firefighters tackling the violent blaze as plumes of smoke filled the air and the M5 was shut in both directions earlier this afternoon. The driver of the vehicle has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a miraculous escape receiving just minor injuries, the Birmingham Mail reports. An incident on Wearmouth Bridge has left a lane blocked as emergency services deal with the situation. The emergency incident occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A1018 Wearmouth Bridge during the morning rush-hour. Police cars and a fire engine were at the scene. Northumbria Police tweeted: "Emergency services currently on scene Wearmouth Bridge, Sunderland dealing with an incident. "Lane 1 Northbound is currently closed as a result. A THREE vehicle collision has caused a lane closure on the A27. The crash took place on the eastbound lane of the A27 Lewes Road in Polegate this evening, close to the junction with Brown Jack Avenue.
