■ The marketing man
AMONG the many outlets a Bollywood film has for its marketing strategies, an unlikely contender’s name has cropped up.

THE world of art, literature and music is studded with some famous apprentices. But the world has indeed changed, and the proof of that are the responses to a post by the author Rashmi Bansal. Late last week, Bansal informed her thousands of Facebook followers that she was looking for an apprentice, who “should be an avid reader, have impeccable English language skills,” and, among others, “commit to working with me for a minimum of 1 year”. She also stated that the person could be a “graduate of any discipline, I don’t really care”, and that “you will get a small stipend (but apply only if you would have worked, even for free! because I want to see that kind of passion and devotion)”. Going by the responses to her post, we reckon Bansal will have a tough time finding an apprentice. Her post attracted a swarm of critical comments, with several people indicating to her that there is no such thing as a free lunch. “Exploitative nonsense dressed up in a pretty little dress to appeal to those desperate enough to fall for it,” said one commenter. And while that does sound valid, we don’t think we’d waste any time signing up for such an offer – however unlikely it may sound – from the likes of
■ Couple goals
SINCE we all love power couples, we are happy to note that after successfully producing films, Ronnie Screwvala and Zarina Mehta are all set to write a book together. The as yet unnamed book will be based on their experiences of working in the social sector via their NGO that focuses on sustainable rural development. From personal stories about meeting people doing commendable work in the social sector to emphasizing the importance of investing personal time as much as donating money for a social cause, the book is expected to cover all aspects. It’s also the first part of a trilogy, we’re told.
THIS young and ambitious starlet, who has just found fame by posting semi-nude pictures of herself on a photo-sharing site, has landed a real catch. No, it isn’t the gorgeous son of a Delhi-based interior designer — that’s a story as old as the hills now. And the moneybags producer with a pretty wife and a glad-eye? He was dumped a while ago. The new beau is the son and scion of among the richest NRIs in the world — a Dubaibased tycoon who has homes all over the world and a private jet to ferry his pet dog around. Of course, the starlet gets a lot of perks, too. She was recently booked into the plush suite of a Mayfair hotel, and apparently shopped up all of Harvey Nichols.
