TWO Americans have been charged with raping a woman after a concert by R&B star Jason Derulo in Ireland, the Sun can reveal. We can also reveal the men have been charged with false imprisonment and released on bail before their trial gets under way later this year. The duo were charged after the woman, who is in her late teens, claimed she was attacked following Derulo’s gig in Cork on June 27, 2014. The pair were booked last year, after cops received instructions from the Director of Public Prosecutions. They were arrested at the time of the alleged incident but later released without charge. A source said: “There will now be a trial in relation to this alleged incident and the two men came to Ireland on a voluntary basis. Both have been charged with very serious offences but intend to contest them. “They have a solicitor acting on their behalf and are due to return to Cork ahead of their trial later this year.” As part of the probe into the alleged offence, officers seized a vehicle. The alleged victim claims she was attacked after the pop star’s concert. Miami-born Derulo — real name Jason Joel Desrouleaux — is a singer, songwriter and dancer with a large Irish following. He has sold more than 30million singles since the start of his career as a solo recording artist in 2009. And he has had eight Top Five hits here, including Talk Dirty, Want to Want Me, Trumpets, and Whatcha Say.
